ROCHDALE SCIENCE EXTRAVAGANZA

5 May 2024
Rochdale Town Hall

In May we took various workshops to Rochdale Science Extravanza in the new Town Hall in Rochdale. We have been working with Mohammed Rahmen and his team at The Rochdale Science Initiative for several years now. Their events are focused on engaging the community in science, technology, engineering, art and maths (STEAM) in a time of climate and ecological emergency.

We always love being part of their programme and this year we Stephen Whitehead's new carbon literacy game and Vivienne Havell and Deborah Curtis taught the young audience about Corn Dolly making and the history of Heritage Crafts.

As well as dozens universities and organisations such as Manchester University and the Institute of Physics we worked alongside our long term collaborators Geraldine Cox & Steve Summers from Noisy Toys. There were over 3,000 visitors to the event.
